Hello, I am Geeky Caticorn! As the name states, I am a geek, though, sadly, as much as I wish I was, I am not a actual Caticorn, more a Caticorn at heart! I love all things geeky and cute! Most of the items I make and sell are based off and inspired by various aspects of geek and pop culture, and, I am a super huge sucker for anything cute and kawaii, which is reflected in my work! (Sorry for those who don’t like that aesthetic) Of course, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to offer original work as well, but we all have to start somewhere, right?
This business has become my full time job, and I couldn’t be happier! I love making and crafting all day, coming up with new items to offer, or new patterns to try out. It has definitely been a long and educational journey over the last 5 years. I’m still learning, so I guess it will continue to be an educational journey! I am so fortunate to be able to say that I genuinely LOVE my job! Of course, it’s not without it’s downs as well, but I prefer to focus on the ups! There’s so many more of those, anyway.
It is my goal to bring as much joy and happiness to as many people as I can through the items I make. I think the BEST part of the job, hands down, is seeing people smile and squee when they walk into my booth or up to my table. It never fails to make me blush and smile. I also like to think I hold myself to a very high standard in my work. If it’s not something I would keep, use or give, I won’t sell it, at least not at full price, I also have issues with throwing things away. If I think anything is below my standards, it will be discounted and marked as a defect in some way. When I am in the process of creating new plushies and fine tuning a pattern, I have a “Trunk of Misfit Toys” that the prototypes will go into for a small “adoption” fee. These “misfits” are always super popular and go fast when I do have them. Unfortunately, they are only available at conventions.
I think, one of my biggest struggles, is being patient. I want my small, little business to grow up fast because I have so many fun ideas and items that I want to offer and not being able to offer them is a little disheartening at times, but, I just have to keep reminding myself that the when the time is right, it will happen. Until then, I still get to be creative and share my items with all of you super, amazing and awesome people!
If any of you are ever at a convention, and you see my booth, please, come up and say “Hi!”. I love getting to talk to fans and other geeks. Most often, you’ll either see me drawing or crocheting little amigurumi behind my table, but don’t let that discourage you! I would still love the chance to meet you.
Thank you for reading all of this and being a fan! It means more than I can ever convey to you all!
